attaching kolpin gun case to klr
To anyone interested, I just posted 5 pictures in the "Photos" area, called:
attaching Kolpin gun case to KLR
and shows how I attached the "Kolpin Gun Boot" to my KLR. I used one U-bolt (about 1 1/2"
W x 3 1/2"L x 5/16" complete w/ lock nuts) around part of the left-side passenger grab rail
(where it descends toward the rear axle) cushioned w/ two pieces of closed-cell foam, and
shimmed w/ three pieces of 3/8" plywood, and then secured it to the folded left passenger
foot-peg w/ a large radiator clamp to secure it AND keep the toe of the case away from the
swingarm.
I haven't tried it w/ a gun and dirt roads yet, but it seems pretty secure when I 'yank' on it.
Cheers,
Ed

NICE!!!!
i've been considering that very thing. i do a lot of range time and
prefer to take the klr due to the distance. i use a sniper drag bag
with shoulder straps now but have been looking into installing
a "spine" from which the bag will attach to the rear rack. when i
get it done i'll post. great mod man!

Do you ever notice if you're treated differently on the road when carrying
the gun case?

you would think living in Houston area that i would not. but the
truth is i do. people don't tail gate at all which is a huge problem
here, especially at stop lights. and i do get a lot of double takes
which i like to believe is due to my good looks.
) i'm sure due
to all of the racks on my bike and a fairly large sand camo gun case
i look like the road warrior going down the road. all i need now is
a cut down double barrel shot gun in a slip case across my handlebars
to complete my image.

I bought an AK47 up at a gun shop outside of Greenville, Texas. I tied it to my back seat with the bayonet extended and not in any kind of case, just for grins, and drove home through a couple of rough little towns between work and home. Not a single double take.

I should think that if anyone were impressed enough to treat you differently, their reaction might be to put you in the ditch by way of preemption. "Dangerous character" or "Law- abiding citizen"? america having a fire sale or what? nklr
Paper gods corrupt and consume a man's soul, not uplift and restore it. When the guys fixing the mess are the same guys who created it, I'd say get ready for a bigger mess.
