need ideas for a home built kayak trailer for my klr
I had to chime in on this.
Is a trailer on a KLR legal? Since there is no hitch on it from the
factory like a gold wing, I am assuming trailers behind a KLR are a big N.O.

We also had a pair of these growing up. I think the old red one was late 60's model (gone)and the yellow one is early 70's, still in working order at my fathers and my sisters kids are old enough to ride it now.
I cannot believe the relatively maintenance free thrashing that these 2 bikes took and I am in full agreement with the other stories you hear before about how fun they were to ride as a kid. Great memories.
I think I personally killed the old red on right before I graduated to a RM 125.

I notice that on the "Trailtail" there is a shock absorber ahead of the
wheel. If you are carrying shockproof stuff like tools and clothes, does
the shock absorber actually help?

The shock should help keep the wheel on the ground, reducing
disturbance to the back end of the motorcycle from when the trailer
returns to earth from a high hop.
