<><><><><><><><><><><><> <><><><><><><><><><><><> Ralph, That sounds like classic symptoms of an electronic ignition system on the road to failure. It might be worth your time to remove the tank and check all the connections for the electrical system. And since you'll be playing around maybe check behind the black plastic cover under the instrument cluster as there are some connections there too. One of the checks on an airhead BMW with an electronic tach and ignition that has no spark is to crank the engine and see if the tach needle moves. If the tach needle moves the hall effect sensor is working and you can plan on it being something else. If the needle doesn't move it's usually the bean can with the hall effect sensor. Our KLRs are a little different but might be worth checking to see if the tach needle moves at all when you are cranking the engine. I'd also be taking a good look at the coil wiring both primary and secondary. throttle sleeve

Post by Lamar » Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:22 am

A parts diagram shows that the throttle sleeve can be separated from the throttle housing. My Kawasaki shop manual doesn't agree. IF it can be separated, HOW do I do it? And why would the sleeve come with a grip already on it??? Lamar A14
