I noticed that the factory rear axle adjustment hash marks sucked when
I had a big nobby on rear and it would rub on one side by the lower
left chain guide despite being lined up per factory hash marks. So, I
invested in the cheap EBAY tool. The net result on my bike is the left
axle adjuster hash mark should read 3 3/16 hash marks from the front
while the right one should read 3 1/16 to be in alignment. The only
problem with the tool is that you have to remove the chainguard to use
it. My chainguard desperately needed cleaning anyways.
I hope the 2008 has the better alignment system because the old KLR650
system sucks. I noticed my friend's Honda XL has a better esp. easier
and more accurate system.
