anyone here replace a front turn signal assy on an 08' yet?
I'm talking about the bulb holder. I'm having a time of it trying to
figure out the best way to install a new assembly into the fairing.
I found that the rubber stalk was busted on my right front turn
signal this morning
Currently I have what was left of the rubber in the fairing pushed
out and a new stalk installed on my oe right front turn signal.
The problem I'm having is trying to figure out if it is worth
removing the fairing where this rubber piece attaches to. It would
be nice if I had it off the bike and it would make installing the
metal holder plate to the asssembly/fairing much easier, but it is
looking like I need a pair of smaller hands to get at a fastener up
inside the fairing
What I'd like to klnow is if someone here on this list has removed
the fairing yet and could offer some insight into removing the
fairing?
I have the factory 08' manual and see all of the fasteners that need
to be removed but getting at a fastener on the inside of the fairing
near the front is a beotch with my ham fist sized hands*
Did you remove just the one side rather than the whole upper front
fairing?
FWIW, this is the second rubber turn signal stalk that has broke on
my 08' since last November (left rear failed first). This rubber
stalk is a horrible design, it just doesn't hold up
Perhaps the aftermarket has a better front turn signal and attachment
design for the 08' KLR but in the meantime I want to work with the oe
crap (I already have)
TIA
