I'm looking for an Fullface Helmet. My main driving is on Highway & looking for a quiet & comfortable Helmet. Any Suggestions.

Arai, Shoei, or Schuberth--take your pick of the one that fits your noggin the best. I have had 3 or 4 HJCs and liked them all OK, even when worn over 3-4 week tours. However, my current HJC is taking longer to break in than previous ones. it's quiet enough, but a little "pinchy" over the forehead. Also have used Shoei brand with great success. I think the key is to try the helmets on in a leisurely fashion, paying attention to fit and so forth. Every head is different, as they say. FWIW, I do think I'd go for an Arai XD when ever I can afford same. Tried one on at the dealer and really liked it a lot. -doug Mike Peplinski wrote:

I wear a HJC CL-14. I've been very satisfied with it. The helmet has 5 forward vents and 2 vents on the back side of the helmet for air to escape. It's quite comfortable and lets in very little noise. It fits down over my head with my ear-buds in place, no problem. It's a jet black model that cost me $90.00. My friend has a KBC TK-8 ($149.00) and she accidentally dropped hers on carpet and the visor just about broke off. Mine has fallen off my bike onto pavement without any damage. Jim W. I'd recommend the Schuberth for on road action. I have the origional Concept 1. Current version is C2? - it is heavy 3.75 - close 4 pounds or about .5 heavier than the competition - it is a bit noisey - it is expensive $400-$500USD + the flip down sun visor + the chin seal + the button release chin strap + ventilation is good + interior cleaning is easy - pads come out easily + flip face design + good flip face locking mechanism locking I've tried the new model the C2? and it felt a bit claustrophobic in the shop. If I recall correctly the origional did also, due to the good fit and chin seal. I was so relaxed with the origional on the ride home about 50 miles to the Fort Worth beamer dealer I almost feel asleep while riding. I also have an HJC Symax that I have worn a few times. My best helmet right now is my KBC VR1. It's very comfortable, and in hot weather, keeps my head cooler than my other helmets. The VR1 is their top helmet. You can end-of-year get close out helmets for $100 or less. Usually when riding the KLR, though, I have my HJC Symax on. I've never worn a helmet that I would call "quiet", though some allow more noise than others. I have a question about the Arai XD but I'll just post that separately.

Maybe no *visible* damage, but generally, any helmet that falls off a bike and hits the pavement should be replaced. Of course, you could just make sure that if you ever crash you keep your helmet from hitting anything in that same spot:). santa maria ed 04 xl883

Let me say that when my helmet fell I half caught it and it didn't "slam" into the ground, also it was sitting on my seat not hanging off my handlebars. I didn't think twice about it. I wrote that originally as an example that it didn't scratch or break the visor. If it can't take a little shock like that then it sure as heck won't save my skull in an accident. Now if my jock strap and cup fell to the ground I'd replace it immediately! Got to protect the brains of the operation ya know! =P Jim W. What ever fits you best, is best for you. Higher end lids like Shoei and Arai seem to have the best fitment for different heads. I found the Shoei fit me better than the Arai so I went for the Shoei ZX or Z2, can't remember the exact model. Try a few on and make sure it's snug enough.
