power outlet for klr

Post by dave thomas » Wed Apr 05, 2006 11:17 pm

I just bought a weather proof power outlet from my local Canadain Tire store. It was designed for a pick-up truck bed so it has a mile of wire. I want it for powering my GPS, battery charging, etc. Can anybody offer an sugestions for where to connect into the electrical system so it is fused or must I buy a separate fuse holder? Dave, I am not able to advise you on where to connect but I saved this related link and thought it might be of use to the list and wanted to share it. http://www.powerletproducts.com/products.php?mid=1 Good luck with the project. Best regards, Robert

I'd recommend fusing the outlet separately, as you don't want to accidently disable some other bike functionality by popping a shared fuse (fan, main electrical system, etc.). I'm partial to Posi-Locks, and they have a nice inline fuse holder for ATO fuses as seen at http://www.easternbeaver.com/Home/Main/Products/Posi-Lock/posi- lock.html>. -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/> San Jose, CA (USA)

And yes, I realize I was over the GVWR. Just saying that it ran fine. Alan
