I commute on my klr650. The other day when riding home from work, the
chain snapped. Naturally i pulled over, noticed it broke at the master
link, installed a spare master and thinking all was good, pressed the
starter and then....the bike did not start. the engine turns,
compression seems good (mabye im assuming incorrectly that since air
comes out the exaust compression is good) but the bike wont start. Any
suggestions. Could the piston rod be broken. If it is broken, why
would i have compression. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

help chain broke and now bike wont start.
Take off the cover for the front sprocket and check the wires just ahead of the sprocket. When your chain snapped it could very easily have damaged those wires.

Wow, what a great commercial! I wish they had ads like that here in Canada.
Might get people to "think" before pulling out.

Jeff,
Check the wires in front of the front sprocket. Maybe when the chain
came loose it mangled the wires.
Good luck,
