julian tech question

Post by goblinmrkt1 » Mon Sep 12, 2005 1:32 pm

I wanted to thank everyone who replied to my last post and ask a couple of other questions. My 05 650 is at over 700 miles and I want to make sure if I wait till tech day to do the valve adjustment I won't be damaging anything on my bike? probably be around 1k at that point. Also, any ideas on a prefab toolkit to purchase that will cover most of what I will need for this bike? I have the SS braided brake lines and the progressive fork springs to install at tech day as well (is that doable?). Lastly--I have a 3 month old stock seat available--red hand guards-stock footpegs and the factory skid plate if any one is looking- Blaine

No problem riding it until then IMHO. Of course don't flogg it but waiting until 1000 miles is no biggie. Read over and print the on-line instruction for the upgrades you are making and review the tools/fluids/parts you will need to complete the job. Make or purchase the preload spacers you need and a way to measure your fork oil level. You may consider a speed bleader for your brake job. --Jim A-15

We can do what ever needs to be done at the Tech Day..........we'll even change the air in your tires, too!! We also allow a little "SwapMeet" action if it doesn't get too out of hand as well. See you on the 1st. Buddy bseifert71@...

Buddy, When I took my trip in CO at the end of August my bike developed a small hole in the front of the engine case. Just about in front of the lower rod end. I was being nice to it, honest. Think we have enough time to do a complete teardown and rebuild? Chuck

I'm holding out for a K cylinder of Helium......so I can take care of the "unsprung weight" issues. I just put a new set of tires on my son's truck and wasn't offered nitrogen at the local costco Buddy bseifert71@...

Conall, Thee's enough hot air floating around we don't bother with nitrogen. We do have a use for nitro, and no2, though..........:-) Chuck, a total rebuild might be a bit much. If your bike was the only one there, we might have a chance. All you'd see would be rear ends and elbows, tho - and that's not a pretty sight at the Julian tech day...... I've been lobbying for a certain NON-LOCAL celebrity to show, so one never knows....... all the best, Mike Eagle Mfg & Eng since 1990 San Diego, Ca "Conall" wrote:

Mike, Yes, a total rebuild in one day is just a bit over the top. I'd sure appreciate it if you could read my post about the rod snapping and give me your best opinions though. Thanks, Chuck

I've heard that Costco puts green valve stem caps on the tires that are filled with Nitrogen. Here is a short story about nitrogen at Costco. http://tinyurl.com/bgvko Conall-prefer one tire with medical grade nitrogen, one tire with medical grade oxygen and a regulator to mix the two together. Remember industrial grade N20 is bad for your lungs. --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Harry Seifert" wrote:

Yup, the Sherpa is a blast too. Many of us pride ourselves with what we can do in the tight shtuff with the big beast 650. Wanna ride?;) Rod --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "dbrow10031" wrote:
