Hi my name is Jeffrey Johnstone and I live in the northern part of Australia.I have the same problem with my KLR and found it too be a number of loose and dirty connections under the seat as well as behind the head light.I also had a problem not to dislike that of yours at it turned out too be a problem with the battery shorting out inside the plates and it seemed too be more towards the earth side of the battery and when I attacked it with a multi meter,I found that the connections on the earth as well as some other connections had some resistance and were dirty.I hope this was some help too your problem and happy and safe riding...Jeffrey Johnstone..
