cdi resistance chart wrong...or my cdi is fried?

Post by jean_philippe_valois » Wed Jun 15, 2005 7:47 pm

Is anyone else puzzled concerning to the CDI unit wire colors listed in the Service Manual's CDI resistance chart? The problem is that neither of the 2 resistance charts listed seem to precisely correspond to the wires on my unit (I've got a C13 = A13 Canadian model). The resistance chart for the A1-A2-A3 models shows values for the following wire colors (7 wires): W, R, R/G, BL/R, BK/W, BK, R/BK Whereas the one for the A4 (and up) shows (7 wires): W, R, R/G, BL/R, BK/W, BK, Y/BK While my unit has these colors (8 wires): W, R, R/G, BL/R, BK/W, BK, R/BK, Y/BK What am I missing? Is there a chart for Canadian models? Using a mix of both those charts, some of the readings are correct, but quite a few are wrong. This would explain the "out of gas" / "engine miss" problem I've been having lately, but would set me back quite a few dollars. Any ideas? Anybody got one for sale? Thanks, Jean-Philippe Valois
