time for a motorcycle jack.
I think I am ready to get a motorcycle jack.
Seems there is a Pep Boys near enough to me. The web site lists:
Torin Big Red 1500 lb. Motorcycle Jack
$49.98 promo price - $10.00 mail-in rebate = $39.98 each
I have heard that folk are happy with the jack from Pep Boys, but
I don't remember if the brand was mentioned. Anybody know if
"Torin" is of reasonable quality?
This would just be used for a pair of KLR650.

I got one of those 2 weeks ago. It's virtually the same thing as the $99
Sears one, if not the exact same thing. They're made in China and the
quality is good.
Mine works great. I left my KLR on the lift for a couple of days without
setting the mechanical stops (forgot) and it held there just fine. If
the jack had gone down, the bike had a 50/50 chance of leaning over to
the kickstand side and not falling.
Like a lot of Chinese things, the same item could be labeled
"Craftsman", "Torin", "Wang Chung", etc, and still be the same thing.
Plus, a Torin jack 6 months from now might be made elsewhere.

That's the jack I got Doug. I don't know about 'quality' but it lifts the
KLR just fine - works like a champ. It doesn't come with a strap although
there are connection points for a strap - I just used one of the tie downs
from the truck - held both my bikes solid as a rock while I worked on them.
I think for $40 it can't be beat.

Why is everyone getting a better deal than where I live?
My PepBoys has it advertised for $54.99 - $10.00 mail in rebate.
It's still a great deal, but I want to know why PepBoys feels the
need to stick it to me.

Thanks much good folk. I suspect I will head on over there this evening if they have one in stock. This should remove the last excuse for not yet greasing the swingarms of these beasts. -- Doug Herr doug@...> I think I am ready to get a motorcycle jack.

new bike...squeaking undertank
Woo Hoo! Found the source of the squeak.
The top most screw that holds the right side tank fairing on was too
long and rubbing against the coolant tank bracket...Dremmel to the
rescue.
Thanks for all the help, gave me excuses to dig into the bike!
