I just purchased a 2002 KLR 650 on ebay. I must say I scored. 3k miles, tank and saddle bags for $3k. I am looking forward to warm weather so I can get out. I sold a DR 350 that was fun, but I am looking forward to better road capibilities. The previous owner geared the bike down. Any recommendations on sproket sizes for the best combo on - off road. --- I use a 14T in the dirt. If the previous owner heard it down then that's probably what it is running now. I use a 16T on LONG road trips, just to drop the revs down a little at highwat speed. To me, the stock 15T is a very good compromise. Randy

Ditto what Randy Shultz said, except that I think the 16t is not really useful. It gives no improvement in gas mileage, and hurts your top gear roll-on when you need it most: when you are heavily loaded, as for a long trip. Moral: Don't ride heavily loaded?

14/45 work for me, also spoon on some knobbies.. I like the Kenda K270 they seem to have excellent traction offroad for me, aired down of course. Few other to pick from of course, but the Kenda's are about the cheapest to experiment with. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Welcome to the list, and I too am awaiting the warm weather. I tried a 14 tooth front sprocket and loved it untill I got over 55 mph. I think it takes too much from the top end so I put the stock 15 tooth back on. Joe SE Ky A18

Same here. My A18 seems buzzy at 100 kph (60 mph) which I don't like so will likely put the 15 back on. It seems to be quite different in feel with the 14 at highway speeds. Norm

I'm looking for an engine stop switch (part 13091-1255) ; that's the red switch +starter button on the right side of the handlebars. Thx
