Guys,
The jam nuts on my chain adjuster stopper on one side (the plate at the end of the swingarm that
the chain adjuster bolt sticks out of) loosened and fell off in a recent ride.
I've heard that riding without that plate is just fine, since it's not holding the axle in place,
etc, and that the only real worry is about getting gunk up in the swingarm. I just called the
local Kawasaki dealer to order a new stopper and they said it's very dangerous to ride without it.
Anyone know what's what? I'm inclined to think the dealer was just doing some CYA in case
something bad happens.

missing chain adjuster stopper?
ride on dude or at least that is what i did!! the axel bolt is what
is holding your wheel straight and chain in line those are just for
making fine tuning adjustments when your axel bolt is loose. if your
chain is set to the right slack and lined up straight then go to it.
glenski - rode for a few weeks till they got one in for me

new chain or no new chain?
I would replace the front sprocket. It is the fastest wearing
component of the system. As it wears it adversely affects the
expensive chain. By replacing the front sprocket as needed (I do
mine every 5K), you'll extend the life of the chain. The rear
sprocket is so lightly loaded it typically can be replaced every 2nd
chain.
