I'm in St. Paul and will be doing fork springs and the doohickey in the spring also. There are a few other KLR owners in the area - I work at the same company with one. There are also some western WI KLR owners.

one or more of these modifications who can help me sort of a Doohickey Party Plus, if you will. I've watched the list for 6 months or more and haven't seen any mention of a doohickey party in this Minnesota, or any adjacent states. Yet I know there are KLRs in the area. I'm willing to host or travel - within 150 miles or so.

do that on my own and if it comes to that, I will. But I haven't even pretended to be any kind of mechanic for 40 years, and it'd be really nice to have someone there who knows what they're doing.

Thanks, guys. Randy, I am in Lakeland (St. Croix valley, east of St. Paul). Got the tools and have done a few levers in my side yard. What I really prefer to do is kibitz while you discover for yourself how easy it is. Fork springs, stator, no problem. Why are you replacing the stator?

If either you or I can borrow the specialty tools, the work could be done at my place. I have hand and pneumatic tools and have always done my own maintenance on cars and bikes (worked my way through college as a mechanic).
