nklr wd-40 as chain lube

Post by dleerep » Sat Dec 18, 2004 5:36 pm

Group: I've been in the bicycle industry for 16 years. My experience with the Finish Line product is to keep it on bicyles. It is too light a lube for motorcycle applications. Also, WD stands for Water Dissipant. The 40 refers to the 40th iteration at formulation. It's a great rust inhibitor. It sounds like it may have other attributes as well but I've had countless lube reps tell me it does not have much lubricating properties. Maybe thats a way for them to sell their products instead... nklr wd-40 as chain lube

But.... it cleans the yuckies off the chain (that stuff that grinds away at the metal making the chain get all loose) and leaves a small film to keep it from rusting, but not enough to make more yuckies stick to the chain. And that boys and girls is very important to somebody that rides a dual sport with knobbies in places I bet some of yours bikes will never ever see ever. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Ok, I marketed the Song Dog replacement in Kernville in April to heavily, but the higher elevations will be a bit more accessible in late April, rahter than in March, when Baja riding does call. My appologies, also, for referencing the late April date for the Isabella/Kernville/ Southern Sierra area, during a full moon, in late April, per the web link I posted. It is going to be so freaking good! - I should have remained on point about your March idea for the same area, rather than bring up the upcoming Baja ride in later March (also full moon period - ya--- beaches, fish tacos, and sunset stuff) and redirecting persons to the April ride per my link, rather than just say, excellent choice of a riding area, but I have commitments elsewhere in March. I am to be flogged, but only by my wife, in about 15 minutes. Good night, all of ya KLR riders. Hey Jim - Lake Isabella. CA etal is a great idea, except, I expect to be in Baja Mexico in later March 2005. Postings are eminent on this list and advrider.com. Oh, a BUNCH of us are riding in to Kernville, Ca in the later period of April (ya know how close it is to Lake Isabella) in later April. A great season of ride-in events is being offered to us all. (thumbs up). The areas around Lake Isabella are one of the prime reasons for April ride near Kernville - aka WARPED trip 2005. -----Original Message----- From: Jim [mailto:mah78@...] Sent: Saturday, December 18, 2004 10:09 PM To: DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_klr650] DV - Joshua Tree - Lake Isabella all before spring? Mike the Lake Isabella tour in is on my list also but that is not until late April. Why not get together at Joshua Tree in early to mid March for a long weekend? Sure looks like some great 4WD roads in the monument for licensed vehicles of the KLR persuasion. I've been there one time and found the geography simply surreal. Riding/camping through there on a KLR would be a very good time I imagine. Anyone wanna ride in JT?
