with a couple of rolls of tape an arts knife, and 12 hours working
with ya KLR and helmet.

I presume you are subscribed to the P-D mailing list on Yahoo?
And you know that Outdoor Life Network (the folks who bring you the Tour de
France) will have a special on December 1, covering the choosing of the Red
Bull/KTM team that will represent the US in the 2005 event?
Nice looking artwork. Did you think to make it out of retro-reflective
tape?

grinding clutch/cable?
Sounds like a cable to me... I'd say go ahead and get a new one...
even if that's not the problem, you'll eventually need another one
anyway, and then you'd have it...
