After putting the bike back together last night and taking it for a
test run, I noticed that it takes quite a bit of travel of the rear
brake pedal before the brake light comes on. Other than crudely
bending the spring so that it's shorter, is there some official way
to adjust when the brake light comes on from the rear pedal? I
didn't see anything in the Clymer. . . .

rear brake switch adjustment
There is an adjustment nut above the spring. The procedure is on
page 65, in chap 3 of my Clymer manual.

Really enjoyed the Doohicky party pix. I would have been there myself just to meet & party with all of you but I had a prior commitment. See it here:

Registration will be necessary but it's free. You can go thru the photos one at a time or sit back and watch a slide show. It helps if you have a high speed connection but works pretty well with a dial up. You can also see the full size image by clicking on it and their print service is excellent.
