short intro
I've been lurking on this list for a bit. I guess this is about a
good a time as any for a short intro.

I enjoy most aspects of motorcycling. Sport-touring, track days,
etc. I'd love to do more off road riding. I keep getting that
call, if you know what I mean.

 We'll see.

I bought my first new by bike in '83, a Suzuki GS750. Bought an
'84 Interceptor the following year and hung on to it a while.
Like most folks, I stopped riding for a spell and took it up
 again several years ago.

You can find anything else on my website (along with quite a few
 pics of my travels).

 Cheers!

short intro
Howdy, All,
Just signed up to the list last week. Been lusting after a KLR650
for a couple of years, but had to trim the stable back a bit first to
make room. Sold my '82 Honda CX500 Custom early in the summer
so now I can start some serious looking.
While I've been looking at the KLR for a few years, this summer
was the first time I got to ride one, when a friend in Fairbanks and I
swapped bikes for a day; my Concours for his KLR, and went for a
day ride. Then once more later in the summer when I again swapped
bikes with a rider from Saskatchewan - my Wing for his KLR as we
 returned from Valdez.
The KLR is just what I thought it would be, and I'm even more
anxious to get one and start preparing it for some serious riding.
Since I live only about 750 miles from Deadhorse/Prudhoe Bay,
and it's such a pretty ride, I'd like to make that trip every month
during the summer. The KLR should be just the bike for the ride.
It's been interesting, reading the e-mail chatter back and forth,
and learning some more about the idiosyncrasies of these bikes.
It will help me be more prepared for getting the bike set up for
the trips I want to take on it, once I find the one I'm looking for.
If they just hadn't painted them that goshawful OD green...

dealer invoice price
I sent out an email to all dealers in NC and SC offering $4,900 cash
out-the-door and had only one response from the big dealer that could. Use
 the net, get your deal.

 Hi,
I'm new to the group. I am looking to purchase a KLR for my 1st bike,
and want some info before I start negotiating with the dealer.
I was trying to find the dealer invoice price for both 2004 and 2005,
but have been unsuccessful. If anyone has that info, or knows where I
can find it (for free), it would be much appreciated. (I searched the
faq, and the archives here and did not find any info)
 Regards,
 Ed
