progressive fork springs on klr for twisties?

Post by Edmund » Sat Aug 21, 2004 1:04 am

Attempt #2 at posting this I just got an invite today to join 2 guys in my office building along with some riders from Mississippi to go for 3 days up to Dahlonaga, Georgia on Labor Day weekend to ride, ride, and ride some more, along with pigout at TWO (Two Wheels Only). After looking at a web site about the Deal's Gap Dragon's Tail (which they assure me we will run up and down more than once) I am considering installing my Larry Roseler progressive fork springs (front only) on my KLR. Do the springs help handling such that they are a 1) nice to have but not necessary 2) absolutely will aid handling 3) not really all that much difference I know that making the spacers about 2 3/4" will help with slightly more preload for heavy running and 15 wt fork oil helps? I'm 220 lbs. Edmund A17 in the GI Joe colors

kenda 270 - terrifying tire

I'm in agreement with you guys. I find the tires to be super off road & while maybe taking some getting use to ... just fine on road. They may move a bit maybe but they are very predictable. In fact I never gave their on-road performance much of a thought beyond the fact that they are dual sport tires until this thread but then I've never treated them like the Pilot Sports on the Duc or the SV650 track bike. Somewhat related ... a couple of weekends ago Cyndi & I did a backroad two-up ride to Couch, Idaho then looped back to McCall on Highway 55 through the Payette River Canyon. Just cruising but we caught & passed two guys on two red Kaw Concours in the Canyon. We gave them a wave as we scooted by & didn't think much more of it until they passed us like a bat out of hell once they hit the straights in Round Valley. They seemed a bit pissed & must have been not too pleased to be passed by a two-up KLR with 270 Kenda knobbies. Best - Chris vintageracer8882 wrote:
