csardas :: stollen klr650 - from hungary!

Post by Szlany Istvan » Thu May 20, 2004 10:36 am

Hello Everybody! I have subscribed on the KLR list only to post this message and I have to subscribe soon because I cannot read the messages due to my workload, so if you wish to reply, please, send your message directly to the following e-mail address: szlany. istvan@... Thank you! ---------------------- Some folks who were reading the trip reports from 2000 and 2001 might still remember my bike's name, Csardas, and me, one of those guys who rode from Yukon to Ushuaia. This e-mail is bad news not only for me and you, but for the whole biker community: there is one more bike, that's been stollen. On May 17th, 2004, between 05:30 and 06:30 my Kawasaki KLR-650 A13 (1999) was stollen from a quiet street on 4th distrcit, in northern Budapest, Hungary. The bike was tied to a light pole with a Masterlock long tie-down, that's theoretically unbreakable, cannot be cut, drilled or chemically distroyed. ... aparently, the thieves didn't know about all this at all. I give you all the information that can identify the bike, as it was perhaps unique, especially with all the accessories on it: Kawasaki KLR-650 A13 Enduro Canadian, Alberta License Plate Nr: XZN-410 --- not the original, because that was stollen already in 2003. Odometer: about 84000 km Frame Nr.: JKAKLEA11XA052112 Engine Nr.: KL650AE040855 Colour: blueish green or greenish blue - as you wish Gray saddle, about 2 inches (5 cm) shortened at the back 3 trident buckles and webbings for fixing a tank-bag Aluminum hand protector (and controls-protector) bar fixed on the handle bar --- the original plastic hand protectors were slightly modified and mounted on the alu bar. 4 inches (10cm) diameter steel plate welded on the sidestand bottom Aluminum rear master brake cylinder protector (a la ZX600) Aluminum MSR engine protector shield Black painted Nato 7.62 cal ammo box fixed in front of the engine (and MSR shield) as a tool box Black Pelican plastic boxes, no. 1520 were mounted on the rear top, and on the rear sides --- the mounting was made of 1/8"x 1"x4' steel bar - from and to passanger foot rest's upper bolts (in a modified U shape) and 2 pcs of 1/4"x 1"xcca.18" long vertical bars hanging from the rear rack bolts, fixed with M6 stainless steel bolts, plastic lock nuts inside the pelican boxes. --- the right side box was badly scrached and fixed and scrached again - as I had a high speed fall (see my stories) and several other smaller ones --- The rear top box has the handle removed, it has 2 rear bolts across those 4 crests that make the box sturdy at the hindges the and 6 pcs of U shape tie-down points for the elastic net hooks. --- The boxes have stickers: CDN, Yukon, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Hungary, Italy, France, Monaco, Switzerland, Lichtenstein. ... I thing that's all I could find and stick up. I also had a sticker from a brasilian biker expedition on the left front side of the bike. There was a wire hooked on the side stand relay switch because it gave me problems several times. Battery : Varta, Front tire : Pirelli MT60, Rear tire : Metzeller Enduro 3 The plastic cooler fan axle insert is glued in with a heat resistang gray epoxy glue. There is a power-off switch hidden on the bike. The rear aluminum swing arm was welded (see my previous e-mails from 2001) The frame had some micro fissures, those were welded and painted white and black (I had no good quality gray spray paint) Several plastic parts were either scratched or broken. As you can see, Csardas is a well seasoned bike. We saw many things in the Americas, Europe and Asia, had many wonderful, and some terrible moments together, and I have to admit, I cried with tears, when I lost her. Someone took a part of my life with taking her, and I wish to take his whole life with my own hand. ... after three years of betray, lies, hate, legal kicks and lawlessness I became what I didn't want. I haven't sign back on the list when the South-American trip was over, because my private life was a nightmare. I married June, but she was already a different woman. I tried fixing our relationship, and we moved from Singapore to Hungary. She got pregnant, gave birth to a wonderful little girl, but she didn't behave like one would expext from a mother. Things went from bad to worse: she accused me with violence, put me in jail, and while I cleared myself from the charges, June took my daughter, all my money, and left the country, and since then nobody really helped me. There is no law, I have no rights, and now I have no bike either!!! I don't know what can YOU, as an individual do. All I know that you ride KLR, you are a biker, a traveller, a free, unbroken spirit, something I was up 'til three days ago. If you are anywhere in Europe, please, post the bike-description part of this e-mail to as many places as you can - in your work place, in the bus and tram stations, in motorbike shops, at the biker clubs, at junk yards, supermarkets, police stations, races, MC magazines, anywhere you think that it would be useful. THANK YOU! Once again, I am not on the list, and because of my work I don't have much time to check the postings, so please contact me directly on the following e-mail address: szlany. istvan@... In case you wish to read my trip reports of the good old days in the Americas, you'll find them archived on: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/szlany ... look on the right hand side of the page, there are my e-mail trip reports on after the other. Best wishes to all bikers on and off the list! Ride safely, and keep the rubber end down! Cheers, istvan (badly longing for Csardas) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
