yer gonna crash !!! nklr

I've gotten some smart-a** responses to my post. (surprise) Some people incorrectly interpreted my comments to be 'against safety' and promoting overconfidence. I apologize for not specifying road riding when I posted it and it wasn't a slam at all against safe riding, which I certainly advocate. I agree with the intent (which I guess is to 'scare' new riders into riding safely) but not the message. I guess the '2 riders' comment is akin to sending out your 16 year old who just got their licence with a cheerful "You're going to crash !" comment as they walk out the door.... Below is a reponse to one of the reponses received but "Herm" gets the Forrest Gump award for his most elequant response.
>I'll bet you ride your motorcycle without a helmet, >don't you?
Wrong. I always wear a full-faced,brightly-coloured helmet
>You probably wear no gloves, and ride with >shorts and sandals, huh?
Wrong again.
>Personally, I think it's a great saying (2 kinds of >riders). Whether it's true or not, it serves as a >reminder that you better do everything you can to >improve your chances to not get hurt.
If it's not true, then why say it ? There are many better, more accurate ways of getting the point across
>It really pisses me off when people don't advocate >safety.
It pisses me off, too;but who wasn't advocating safety ? If you got that from my message, you read it wrong.
>I suggest people go fall down on small, slow bikes
out
>in the dirt. Much easier on your body than crashing >into a buick.
Who wants to go out and buy a small, slow bike for that ? (Gee, let's go into the woods and ride a junk bike into a tree so I'll be ready when I plow into that pickup..) ===== Sammamish, WA '94 klr650 '03 ZR-7S '86 klr250 '86 yam it200n KLR 650 FAQ's http://www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hello Seacrotty, I have nothing but good stuff to say about Waldron Kawasaki in Issaquah. They just started a few years ago to sell/service Cycles. They were primarily a snowmobile shop b4 that.. They have one Mechanic and you actually get to see him work - kindofa cool setup. I wrecked on the road on the way there (just kidding). The mechanic area of the shop is across the parking lot from the sales area. A fellow LM here was kind enough to lend me his valve spring compressor but it didn't work on all 4 valves of the 250. I brought in the head and he replaced the valves in a jiffy and it went really well. When I put the head back on, I could tell my timing chain was binding somewhere below. Since I had no flywheel puller, I took it in then. He put it all back together and everything worked excellently. He also recognizes dudes like us who try to work as much as possible. I was bummed out that I had to take it into the dealer, but being able to talk to the dude who works on the bike was very rare and I didn't feel like I was ripped off. Call him, I think his name is John..Anyway, Waldron Kawasaki is right off if I-90 in Exit 15 - behind the Hardley dealership. ===== Sammamish, WA '94 klr650 '03 ZR-7S '86 klr250 '86 yam it200n KLR 650 FAQ's http://www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Credentials: First bike in 1958. MSF instructor 5 years, 400 students. Motocross, enduro racer. 25 machines. First and last down on the hwy. was in 1966. Thru the years, these helpful tips have lingered in the back of my mind: 1. When you think you know how to ride it, sell it. 2. There are only 2 kinds of riders. Those that have been down and those that will go down. 3. Drive like you're invisible. 4. Never start it without your helmet on. don
