Hello,
Last night I bought a KLR-650 and also joined this list and reviewed
the *WONDERFUL* FAQ. I can't say how great that FAQ is to a newbie
like me. I've gone over it a bunch of times. Thanks to all who made
that possible.
Today I put 350 miles on the bike to get a feel for it and identify
what changes I want to make. First, I am happy with the bike and
tonight will put the wheels in motion (no pun intended) to improve
the bike for my needs and style of riding. I would be most
appreciative of any comments that any of you experienced KLR folks
might have. In some order of priority here is what I plan to do -
comments welcome
a.) Go to a better tires. I'm less than impressed with the factory
tires. My needs and style put me on road about 85% of the time and
when on dirt it is dirt road and nothing too extreme. Would love
suggestions on tires as I'd like to order them by tomorrow.
b.) Change to 16 tooth front sprocket. Anything tricky here? I
assume this is a generic part -if anyone knows better or good source
please let me know.
c.) Good soft luggage bags (saddle bags) -again comments welcome
d.) Improved exhaust (I have to believe that there is more efficient
exhaust systems for this bike than the factory.) Looking at the
Laser -confused by the two choices ...any suggestions on any
aftermarket exhaust system for this bike are more than welcome.
Gosh, really having fun on this bike so far --this list and
especially the FAQ is invaluable. Thanks so much. Gotta go ..time
for the eveing ride ..promised myself a 400mile day! -only 50 to go!

3 Points! Will that make your insurance go up from $50/year to $60?
