You can buy Fiamm horns at any old generic auto parts store, I put them on my bmw, but not on my KLR (yet) as you need to figure out a place to mount them, although i imagine there are listers who have solved this one. Get the hi-lo euro models, they are about $13 each, and I recommend one of each, you'll have a real horn that wakes up the sleeping lane changing SUV dummies. Right down on the frame downtube looks good to me, even tho I am at my office and the KLR is at home.> the KLR?

Is there any reason one couldn't just pick one out of
a cage at the junk yard? I've been meaning to replace
mine, too.

What's a cage? The back 40?
No guarentee (I can never spell that word) it'd be any louder than stock
though, right?

Has anyone fitted a louder (MUCH louder) aftermarket horn to their
KLR? It was the first thing I did to the monster
(http://www.california.com/~phdarch/horn.jpg), and it has saved my
a$$ a number of times. But the confined space around the KLR horn
would seem to prevent a similar solution.

Hey Paul, yup, that was one of the first things *I* did also. And it was one of the first procedures I had on my website, right after the valve adjustment, I think... http://klr6500.tripod.com/horns.htm They DO make a big difference! there is a small screw on the back of the stock horn. Unscrew it
until it falls out and lose it in the dirt. That may make it a little
louder.

lr fork spring install question...
Joe,
Look for message #65017 at our yahoogroups site. Wrote a long winded install
guide (w/torque values & tools needed) for installing the LR series 420
shock, & Progressive fork springs. All best.
