Started back on no spark problem from many months ago. honey do
list is up to date, house built. Last night I tried the following.1
Resistence testing on off/run/off switch,ok clutch switch,ok side
stand,ok diode test,ok 0 ohms one direction 10 ohms the other. CDI
check with anlog meter all within range.Exciter coil at 130ohms,ok
pick-up coil at 120 ohms,ok stator aat .5 ohms,ok had the coil bench
tested, was ok.pulled cover off stator to inspect, very strong
magnetizem.put anlog meter on low range ac volts to check for pulse
from pickup, did move needle but very minute amount. checked the
ignition switch wih meter, ok. started to check the volt
regulator/rectifier but only had the klr 6oo manual to go by. It did
pass the 12volt light test, but ohm readings different, maybe
different anyway. anyone with a test for this old A1? I didn't think
it should affect the sparking though. Tried new plug, no luck. Last
time working on I did find one of the yellow stator wires had been
cut on frame under seat and had been arcing. Repaired wiringno luck.
Checked various points of connections throughout all of wiring
diagram with no brken wires or terminals, connectors all in good
condition too. Went to kaw dealer in Lexinton. With hoping for some
insight, found that when he has this problem brougt in from time to
time , he just starts replacing parts till he gets it repaired.
That's to expensive for me to geuss with my money.Bike is like new,
with 2,500 miles on it. Any more advice on what to try next,or most
likely to try would be most appreciated. Or anyone know of a repair
person close in central KY? I myself was going to try a stator
winding 1st, Dennis kirk has one for around $100.
