woops, i forgot to include this second question Assuming I get this old gasket off, what is the proper procedure for putting on the new one? Should I put it on as is or should I soak it in oil?

Hi All, Well, I hate to say it, but my A13 went to a new home tonight. I'm gonna miss the bike, but it went to a good new home and I think the new owner will really like it. I'll probably lurk on the list for a while (old habits are hard to break). I'm trying to sell a sweet '97 ST1100, so if anyone is interested please contact me. Do you mean either of the left side engine (magneto) cover gaskets? I prefer a thin coat of Hylomar on both sides. Helps to seal and aids in removal in the future. RM

No, I mean the gasket that goes between the valve chain tensioner and the cylinder head. Sounds like your advise might apply here as well though. Thanks
