footpeg replacements?

Post by dmatking » Fri Feb 22, 2002 8:16 pm

Anyone know if there are any more aggressive off-road style footpegs that will mount on the KLR? In particular, is there something from another Kawasaki or other manufacturer model that fits? I want to grab something from a local dealer tomorrow if possible. Thanks for the help, David King

Someone a while back said that DR650 pegs will fit right on. Devon A15 dmatking wrote:

IMS Pro's available from Fred, about $100 a set. I have them and they are great. Wider, all metal, aggressive. Your feet won't slip off these when wet! CA Stu

I have the cheaper ones from IMS, I forget what they're called, but I bought mine for about $70. Flightline model? Yes, best mod to the KLR you can do, in my world.

Thanks Devon, if I can't find any IMS pegs locally, I will check these out! David

I was tired of my boots slipping off the pegs on the trail. I wanted pegs with a serrated edge like those on my KTM for the KLR and was disappointed to find that the aftermarket stuff as that offered through IMS was pricey. The DR650 pegs work, but the pegs, pins, and springs run a around $60. I'm a cheap #$%%%!!! so unless there is no alternative I will not shell out the bucks unless it involves inebriants and lap dances. Long story made short I went to the salvage yard today and dug through the piles for about 45 min to find a set of dirt bike pegs that "could" fit the KLR. At home I did a little grinder work and PRESTO; Steel serrated dirt bike pegs for $10 and 1.5 hours of drinking beer and wearing safety glasses whilst grinding and checking, and grinding and checking, and etc. Sunday when I go ride my boots will stick to the pegs. They aren't as pretty as the IMS pegs, but I don't look at myself in the plate glass windows on my way out of town like the fashion riders anyway. If you want pretty buy a Harley and spend your money on chrome doodads and little leather tassels. Go out and slap a little mud under the fender this weekend. -scott

Ya, but in Utah you guys can have 1 or 2 of each. George Escondido, CA [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
