Okay who has experience in this area? What tires work well for mud
on the KLR? What are the most aggressive off-road (street legal)
tires for the KLR?
Thanks,

good tires for mud?
Not sure on your second question but the Kenda 270's did well by me int he forest/mud today. If it wasn't for needing to do that Carb T-vent mod I'd have had no problems at all (whoops.. one shouldn't get it that far down in the mud/water..heheh). At least it came right out with a push. Had soft slick clay and sand and a few other things. Never left me stranded. I'd like to try the 3.25" front tires though. Today was probably one of the most fun runs I have ever had with the KLR. I hope it's a prelude to many more!> Okay who has experience in this area? What tires work well for mud > on the KLR? What are the most aggressive off-road (street legal) > tires for the KLR?

The answer is pirelli mt21 Fred has em on his site.
There not the cheapest, but they are the most
aggressive street legal tire.
a few monthes ago in my first week of riding i tried
to kick up a little sand on her on just about threw me
and the g/f off the bike.
On this was deep soft sand. Havent done mud yet.

The Kenda 270 rear is king IMO... with dirt and mud mostly on my
mind.. the KLR pulls like a tractor wityh the 270 tho it isn't the
most mud/sand friendly DOT tire out there... but it still is
acceptable on the hwy.. the MT 21 has a very short hwy life. I got 7k
miles out of the 270 with most street miles.
The 270 front is not as long lived .. haven't made up my mind on that
one yet.. Have to look at my log to see how many miles on the current
and first front 270 I have had.

I seem to be hearing D606 or MT21's. The D606 looks like it has
deeper knobbies than the MT21, can anyone confirm or deny that?

Jake, I got the valve tool and CS nut today, thanks! I expected TWO nuts,
you know... for balance, or something.
(Oh man, my mother would whack me upside the head for that one!) Thanks,
it looks good, and eliminates the need for the curled-over washer thing,
right?
The valve tool is quite the setup. I know this is kind of pathetic, but I
have a question about it. I'm fully prepared to guess at its function,
(but it might be better if I didn't!): is that a tap on one end of the
cable? What (for) or when would I use it? The whole thing is pretty
cool, maybe I'll just hang it over the fireplace mantle...
Thanks again, (Great packaging, by the way.)
