Okay, guys and gals. I have $350 to spend and I want/need a fork brace and a pipe. Fred has the Superbrace for $150, so I'm left with $200 and a choice of the Supertrapp IDSII Quiet System or the Cobra ISDE pipe. Dennis Kirk has them for $214 and $162 respectively. It's not the $52 saving as much as I like the appearance of the Cobra. Has anyone ( anyone at all) had a good experience with the Cobra? I seem to remember someone from Beverly, Mass. ( who also had a 71 Yamaha 100?) having to replace his Cobra under warranty. If the Cobra's problems are to do with having an aluminum muffler and a steel pipe expanding at different rates, can't that be solved with appropriate gaskets or something? And, yes, I know I should wait a while and get the Laser Pro Duro for $350..( But it sticks way out the back, plus the mounting bracket looks so agricultural!)

Mark me as "disagree". It's not as bad as the car muffler that sinner put on his KLR (Kawasaki should repossess that poor thing!), but not exactly streamlined, either. LOL! Hanging WAY beyond the backfender, I'm sure the first time I drop or loop my bike, it would break the Pro Duro off and cost me $$$. I have the Renthal bars as well and noticed the same problem. I haven't had any problems since I put the new bars on but things sure do seem tight at that dog leg. As I remember one review stating something like: The KLR 650 produces more power and speed than almost any rider can ride anyway, save your money when it comes to aftermarket pipes / jet kits. I personnelly like the quiet stock pipe. Just my $.02 worth. Duden A15 Pilot
