Dale,
In the OFF position, the ignition switch grounds the BLACK/WHITE
wire from the CDI unit, which prevents the ignition system from
working, i.e. no spark.
If you reconnect the 6-wire connectors when you park your KLR,
no-one else can start your bike.
Professor
ps: don't lose the jumper wires!!!
how do you hotwire a klr? [part 2]

my klr gone, think i need another.
Sorry to say, my KLR and I have parted ways. Really difficult to let it go.
Didn't want to, but it was a key bargaining chip in a combination trade deal
I made yesterday in order to obtain a different bike. I swapped two of my
bikes (including the KLR) and a car for another larger cruiser/tour bike.
Would have tried to pull the KLR out of the deal if I could because I really
wanted to keep it, but it was what the guy really wanted more than anything
else. My last ride was a good one. Spent an hour or so with my 4yr/old on
the back cruising thru the countryside, exploring a logging trail, crossing
a rocky creek and in general spending some good father/daughter quality time
(what better way to do it?).
With that said, I believe I'm in the market for another one. Unfortunately,
I'm a cheap bastard and never spend any "Real Money" on motorcycles and
almost always acquire them thru trade deals of one kind or another. Not sure
what I have to offer just yet, but anyone wanna do some trading? Please
email me directly if ya wanna do some dealing ( w i t t t o m @ a o l . c o
m ) as I'll likely be unsubscribing soon, at least until I get another
(which I will eventually). What more can I say? The group has been great!
Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way.
