Stu,

Would you be considering spending your hard earned cash on a swingarm
 if they hadn't messed up?

 Me neither

Scott,

Don't know if this will help, but here is how I moved my plate without losing
the light. Law enforcement can be a real bitch about such minor items. First,
I used some metal shears to trip the top of the plate. I was able to remove
about .5 to .75 inches without hurting anything on the plate. Then, I drilled
new mounting holes in the plate, again staying away from the letter/numbers.
It moves the plate up significantly without losing the lamp. I've been
offroad many times and I'm a big guy at 6'3" tall and 265 pounds. Have not
had a problem with plate rub at all. Hope this idea helps. Have a good
 weekend.
