cable lube & other notes
Hi All,
I got my cable lube kit from Fred yesterday. What I
plan to do is flush the clutch cable with wd40, let it
drip dry, then lube it with the cable lube that came
with the kit. Do I need to lube the throttle cables
too? They don't seem to be stressed like the clutch
cable is.
On another note, I had to go to reserve yesterday at
300 miles. When I filled up my mpg came out to be 62+.
I was using a mid-grade gasoline. I'm pretty happy
with that! The 16t sprocket I just installed could be
helping to increase the mpg maybe. I usually got 58mpg
with the 15t one. I would think it would be possible
to get 70mpg if you help your rev's to 3000 or so
which is almost 50mph indicated.
Lastly, my Kings k967 will probably need to be
replaced at 4000 miles. I was hoping to get 5000 or
more out of it. Mostly I drive on asphalt with a
gravel road now and then. I'm thinking about trying
the Kenda Sport Challenger 130/90 since most of my
riding is on the road.
Later,
Brad

cable lube & other notes
The lube that comes with the Cable Care Kit does a good job of flushing out your cables. Remove any rubber end seals that might keep the lube from working on the entire cable. Give your cable a couple of quick shots with the luber and you should start to see it bubble out the end. This luber really works nice to speed up the lubing process and not wasting lube. I wouldn't lube your throttle cable. They will work better if they are dry. If the cable is hanging up, I would replace the cable.

Don't feel bad. I made the same discovery with a $60 Westco.
