In hindsight, I think we should have gone back with you at least until we caught up with Daryl. I didn't like leaving you heading back alone with no backup...yes, let's do it next year. How did I manage to go to Moab and miss meeting Dr. Krok? Kurt

That would be Mr. Dave "Jake" Jakeman, Esq., who is about the most wise, helpful, and benevolent guy you will ever meet. I was camped at a site next to him at Canyonlands, and after Hondaland of Monticello fucked my bike (by not replacing the spacer after I had them change a flat), I had no wheels so I got to hang out at the campground all day. Jake changed a tire, fixed bikes, dispensed wisdom, and helped out about 10 riders. Even thought I missed out on a day and a half of riding, the amount of knowledge I gained that day more than made up for the loss of my bike. On Monday, I did a 722 mile ass-smoker of a ride home to Riverside, via Panguitch, Bryce Canyon, Brian Head, Cedar City, etc. then the 15 Fwy for the rest of the ride... Before I left, Jake put a glob of Moly grease on his index finger, came wandering over to my site, and said "We're gonna have a ceremony!". I wondered what the hell was going on, and Jake stood in front of my bike, waved his finger in the air and said reverently "Spiritu Kawasaki, sanctu omini dominus, caveat emptor, my Dad can beat your Dad at dominoes!", then he leapt forward and swiped a slash of moly grease across my windshield. At 680 miles, when my ass was on fire, that glob of grease gave me the strength to ride the last 42 miles to my house. I showed my missus that picture, and she said "Ooh!
