i can't ride off pavement - conclusion

Post by Ingo Lahnemann » Thu Apr 12, 2001 7:14 pm

Thanks to everyone who responded to my plea for help... Based on your collective suggestions I have decided the following: 1. Stay on the throttle... 2. "Katie" is now "KT My Bitch" 3. Get New more aggressive DOT legal dirt tires... 4. Stay on the throttle... 5. Reduce tire pressures off road... 6. Sign up for the November "American Supercamp" in Harrington, DE... 7. Stay on the throttle 8. Get some help from Local experienced off road riders... Peter in Flemington, you'll have mail soon... 9. Buy a light weight dirt bike to practice with... suggestions?? I'm 6'0" 270 lbs... 10. Stay on the throttle... Oh yeah... Fireball the "fish oil" was a great idea... did that this evening! A touch of realism helps fuel the imagination. You're now forgiven... not that you should care what I think. Ingo

fil I have t MT60s on my MZ. They are very sticky, meant for track rain. Rear lasted me 2000 miles. The numbers 130/80 represent the the circumfrence/sidewall heigth ratio. R is the speed rating. 17 the rim size. Not sure about 65HTL. Mark S. I am looking for a | a new set of tyres for my KLR. Something much more street oriented sice I | spend 90% of my time commuting through NYC and neigbouring burrows. I | gathered from the list, most of you like Avon Gripster but I would like some | help with Pirelli tyres. Does anyone have an oppinion and/or expirince with | them. Specificly with models MT80 or MT90. Ahh and now for really ignorant | question; what do all the numbers in tyre size mean eg. 130/80 R17 65HTL. I | know 17 is the wheel size, but what are the rest of tne numbers and letters | for? | | thanks | fil | | Ahh, these shiny sparkling things are really cool, lets buy some... duh!

Ingo I just had a crash course in slimey riding. The one thing that makes the most diff is looking ahead to where you want to go. Your equilibrium is much quicker in respoding than your eye reflexes. By the time your eyes see that a correction is necessary, send the message to the brain and then send it to your limbs, its too late. Also, keep you weight on the pegs and STAY ON THE THROTTLE.
