using tubes in radial tires

Post by 3116@nethawk.com » Wed Jan 31, 2001 9:34 pm

I am getting ready to put some new tires on my 2001 KLR650. Will be taking a ride from Michigan to Florida in late March. I ride almost entirely on roads and was thinking of putting on Metzler Tourance tires. I have read that tubes should not be used with radial tires, but don't know why. As the Tourance tires are radial, I was wondering if I can safely put them on my bike using tubes. Metzler indicates that these tires are designed for enduro bikes (which have spoked wheels and require a tube). Has anybody here installed Tourance tires on their KLR? If so, how well do they work? This is my first post to this group. Glad that I found it! Len Vernik
