I recived last night my travel trunk from JC Whitney. This trunklooks like it will suit my needs quite well. My only problem withthis trunk is that I am not sure how to mount it. It only comes withhardware and no directions. The mounting plate has many holes in itfor mounting but none match up with existing hole on the rear rack ofthe KLR. Do I need to start drilling holes? The only problems that Icould find in the files section was Pete the Streak had trouble withthe "button" style of hardware interfering with the trunk. Any advicewill be helpful and pic's would be a plus! Thanks!!Ed LubejkoColorado Springs, CO98' KLR650

How? -- -- I mounted one on my DR650 and it's a peach! Use 1/4-20 flat head screws in any four or six of the holes that are convenient. Pictures of DR installation are on my web site. It may give you some ideas. Mounting it on the KLR should be easy. Unfortunately, you'll cover up the tool kit when you mount the base. Go to: http://www.dirtly.com/ then click on the article about the luggage rack. Good luck! bierdo

If you ground your shims that thin, you can probably stack 2 shims on one side at a time to find out where to start. Gary A15
