(Snip) >>Please refresh my memory, who makes aftermarket shiflevers for the KLR650? Tom, I bought one from Tim Bernard at Happy trails for $20.00. I am not sure of the manufacturer but it is super heavy duty. Go to http://www.happy-trail.com/ Mike Roberts Vancouver, USA

missing part - oil filter tube

Post by Daniel Copeland » Fri Jul 28, 2000 10:09 am

There were some posts a while ago about people noticing that after geting their KLRs serviced, the oil filter tube that allows the oil to bypass to the oil filter under low pressure had been left out. This effectively means that the oil is unfiltered. Well I found out that this happened to me. Brought the bike in to the best dealer in town for the 10,000 km tune up and when I was changing the oil at the 15,000 km mark found out the part was missing. Two questions for the collective: 1) What damage may have happened/should I be on the look out for after running the KLR from 10,000km to 15,000km (6,000 - 9,000 miles) without any filtering? 2) What can I/should I expect the dealership to do about this?
