[dsn_klr650] nklr front wheel stand for truckbed

Post by Calis » Mon May 22, 2000 3:23 pm

I've tied bikes down in the back of trucks a lot and never had a problem. Just get some good ratchet-type tie straps and attach them at two points of the front end of the bike. Compress the front end down and tighten the straps, you might be amazed at what you can put the truck through and not have the bike move an inch. Calis

One problem, I don't like the idea of just tying down the bikes in the back of the truck I want some kind of stand that will hold the front wheel in place while driving through the desert. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Charles Waddell

I have seen what you are asking for. I think it was in Dennis Kirk. It is an el-cheapo bit of tubular metal that bolts down to do exactly what you need. -----Original Message----- From: Charles Waddell [mailto:charles@...] Sent: Monday, May 22, 2000 3:33 PM To: DSN_klr650@egroups.com Subject: [DSN_klr650] NKLR Front wheel stand for truckbed Now that I have my loose bolt problem taken care of I am ready to load up my KLR650 and my buddy's into the back of my truck to get to the good spots. [dsn_klr650] nklr front wheel stand for truckbed

Post by rusig1@aol.com » Mon May 22, 2000 4:40 pm

I just installed wheel chocks this weekend in my cargo trailer. I ordered them from my local motorcycle shop. The cost was about 50 bucks each. They are removable and are made by a company called Pingel Enterprise (2072 11th ave, Adams WI 53910 (608)339-7999) I wanted them to be removable so I can use my trailer for camping in. The install was easy and they are pretty heavy duty. I think they make removable model that is compatible with the grooves in the bed of a truck. I ordered two chock sets and an extra mounting bracket so I have the option of hauling both our bikes side by side or just one in the center. I hope this helps. Dave in ID

I would like to keep the jacket but if they buy me a new one, I have to give up my jacket. I don't think it is fair, but I guess that is how it works. I went to the bike shop today to have them hold a jacket for me. They only had one let in my size. I also looked at some kidney belts that they had. By the time I was ready to go, I went back for the jacket and it was gone! Someone bought it while I was looking at the kidney belts! Those sneaky bastards. The sales clerk didn't know when the new shipment would be in so I had to special order it. I sure having bad luck with all of this. Ed (Biker down and still no bike to ride!)
