Hello list. I am usually in the lurk mode but today I need your help!
Yesterday, Sat. 29, I was ridding my KLR650. I was on my way back from a
camping trip in the mountains when I came up on a intersection in town.
At the last second, A Dodge full size pick-up truck made a left turn in
front of me! I was doing about 35 and hit the truck almost dead on! What
happened next isn't quite clear because I was knocked for a unknown
amount of time. I don't what to get into all of the details but I am
fine (sprained neck). What is troubling me is when I went around today
talking to people that saw the accident they cann't believe that I am
still alive! One guy said I had an angel in my back pocket. This wreck
really scared the shit out of me. My hands are shanking as I type. I
cann't even sleep. Has anyone out there been through this? I cann't get
the accident out of my head! I just keep seeing myself time after time
slamming into that truck. I also cann't stop thinking about how this
could have affected my family if had turned out the other way. I am
sorry for the run on here, just needed to reach out I guess.

Subject: [DSN_klr650] Sidestand safety switch
MY first thought is that if it cuts out with the switch in the "up" position when the sidestand is up, I wouldnt expect it to behave much differently wether or not the sidestand is actualy connected to it. The fault lies in the guts of the switch itself. I would (and have) eliminate it entirely. -Tom '96 KLR 650>My side stand safety switch has been giving me fits lately - with the >sidestand up it was still cutting out the engine. Rather than try to short >out the connection via spade connector as mentioned on the DSN website, I >just disconnected the wire from the actual safety switch itself by removing >the cotter pin and then the pin connector - so that the switch is always in >the 'up' position. Anyone see any potential problems down the road with my >fix?
