if you love the Hawk you can get nearly the same engine in a used (only used available in the US) Honda TransAlp...they hold their value (or even appreciate) just like the Hawk. Otherwise about the best anyone can start you with is to say that here is the way most people rate them: road: KLR650------------------------------DR650SE ('96 or later)-----------------------------------------KLX650-------XRL650 :dirt Kurt

Thanks, Scott. Scott, Dollar for dollar you can't go wrong with the KLR 650. It's still one of the lowest priced bikes in this catagory. For combined highway, gravel or trail riding it doesn't really do anything perfectly, but it does everything surprisingly well! I've owned the Honda XL 500 and the XL 600 and although they were better in the dirt, neither can match the all round versatility of the KLR. Just my humble opinion, good luck with your purchase. [dsn_klr650] nklr - application for the 'in-crowd'

I'm not "In" but if you send a check for $200 (lifetime membership) to Eric Jasniewicz He'll gladly let you "In". He'll have the money for his $200 clutch job and I'll have an excuse to get out of NM for a couple of weeks. :) LaterZ Dash At 09:13 PM 4/29/00 -0500, Calis wrote:
