If I start getting noise tickets then I'l be forced to go to stock until I can get a quiet core for mine. I'm sure you don't want to wait a few weeks but thats how long (realistically) before I get it back on the road. After I know about the noise tolerance of the local, respectable, highly decorated and honored law enforcement, I'll be able to part with it. Scott, I have a brand new, replaced by the factory, never on the bike, Kawasaki muffler in my garage. I got it under warranty, because the tweeter pissed me off so bad. I also have a brand new, in the box, SuperTrapp IDS2 Quiet exhaust system, replaced by SuperTrapp under warranty after I sent back the trashed out unit I bought from them last fall. Not a particularly robust design, IMHO, although the new unit does look significantly better than the first one I had. The idea of periodic and frequent fiberglass re-packing is a total loser to me. What I'm running on the bike now, though, is a small automotive muffler, fiberglass free, with a great sound, and very inexpensive. Painted black, I think it looks just fine, and saves about 6 lbs over stock, (heavier than the SuperTrapp, though). The Laser ProDuro units, as run by Gino, and maybe no one else, seems like a good way to go if you've got the bucks and are patient... Now you're prolly gonna ask me if I wanna sell stuff, and I'm prolly gonna have to decide if the time is nigh... TexasTommy A13, 20K

FWIW, as point of fact, I'm also using the ProDuro. It's quite a lot heavier than my previous pipe (Cobra...maybe...). All steel, no repacking necessary ever. I've been quite happy with it. Only problem was a rivet fell off at the end can, spewing out exhaust fumes right on top of my rear brake caliper. A temporary operation involving duct tape and a more permanent one involving a borrowed rivet gun fixed that. Yus A1

moab rim

the last day i was in moab 2 years ago, superdan and i rode moab rim (on bicycles) we were cooked from doing the whole white rim the previous day, and 6 or so hours of riding each of the previous 2 days as well. we managed just about clean the whole thing, and could probably do it if fresh. now on a motorcycle, it doesn't seem like it should be too hard, but ... everything looks different when you're astride 350 or so lbs of metal and plastic, instead of 23 lbs. i'm very much looking forward to moab for the opportunity to ride some offroad stuff with more experienced klr-ists. i think just watching someone else once or twice over something that looks scary to me would be a big help. -mw
