Can Anyone Identify the Episodes?

Post by Michael Buck » Sun Oct 04, 2015 11:11 pm

I have been searching through the Blu-ray set to see if I can find certain "missing" scenes that I remember from the original series but have not seen in either the VHS or DVD sets. I have not found them yet, but perhaps they are there and I am just missing them. If anyone can identify the episodes in which these scenes occurred, that will be of great help.
The first scene that I am looking for is one in which someone (Don, I believe) is working in the crashed Jupiter 2 (near the ceiling, I think), when something happens (Smith?) to cause a high-voltage cable to be sparking around on the floor of the upper deck. I believe that this was a 1st season episode.
The other scene, also from a 1st season episode as I recall, shows someone (Will I think) reading from a Robot Manual. As I recall, the robot was damaged for some reason. The cover of the manual shows a great drawing of the Robot, with its arms extended.
Of course, it has been 50 years, but I'm pretty sure that I actually did see these scenes back then.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike Buck

The scene with the robot manual, was that not when the robot had to be disassembled for the trip back to the Jupiter 2,2nd or 3rd episode of Season 1,when the iced over ocean melted and they had to travel in the rough sea during a storm. Don was almost lost when on the roof of chariot trying to fix the antenna. The next day after returning to the Jupiter 2,Will was reading the manual to put the robot back together.

I know you can see the Robot manual in the second season episode "Wreck Of The Robot" but Will was putting the Robot back together. Don hands Will the manual when he goes to eat breakfast and you can see the drawing of the Robot on the book cover.

The cable sparking was from Season 1 Episode 11, Wish Upon a Star:
Major West is nearly killed when Dr. Smith causes an explosion, and a fed-up Professor thinks it best if he leaves. Dejected, Smith heads off, but he is followed by Will who feels sorry for him. Smith and Will then find the wreckage of an alien spaceship and a mysterious machine that creates anything they wish for. Word of the magical machine reaches the Robinsons who want to use the device as well, but their eventual greed forces the Professor to get rid of it. Refusing to destroy it, Smith takes it back to the alien ship, but there he summons a servant to tend to his needs. The machine instead conjures a menacing mummy-like creature who tries to take the machine away.

Your first scene sounds like season 2, TRIP THRU THE ROBOT,  The Second scene also sounds like a season 2 episode

LED question

Post by Sky Rocket Guy » Mon Oct 05, 2015 10:25 pm

I want to connect 9 LEDs in parallel.
Each LED is rated at 3 volts and 100mw.
If I use a 3v switching power supply, is it still best to use resistors?
This wizard suggests to use at least 1 ohm resistors.

Thoughts?
Thank you,Jeff

Re: LED question

You absolutely must use resistors when paralleling LEDs. LEDs are current devices. The more current, the more light produced -to a point. They will not do much in the way of restricting the amount of current through them. That's what resistors do.
If you have 10 in parallel without resistors, given sufficient available current, 9 will be dark and one will live a brief but spectacular existence. Then 8 will be dark and one will quickly overcurrent and die. Then 7. You get the idea.
9 in parallel with 1 ohm resistors will burn nearly 3 watts of power (2.79 watts).
9 in series with a 27 volt power supply would burn 90mW since 33mA into the circuit = 33mA out of the circuit. It's 33mA flowing, period, no matter how many LEDs you wire in series. Really you'll want a little head room on the supply and a series resistor with the right rating for whatever voltage drop you're going for.

This wizard suggests to use at least 1 ohm resistors.

Good morning.
Interesting question and I had to double check with the web to be more certain. As you may know placing something in series be it resistors, led, or inductors has the characteristic that it will see the same voltage. It is to my best understanding that since you are running the led at the rated voltage (3Vdc), in theory you do not need a resistor. If this were the case in which you had a higher voltage then you would need to reduce the voltage by adding a resistor.
Now, let us think that you want to go conservative and have the leds last longer than expected and you are willing to run these at 2.5VDC, then we would need to add a resistor to provide a voltage drop of 0.5 Vdc. The following better explains this scenario:The led is rated at 3Vdc and 100mAWith a voltage of 3Vdc and to run the leds at 2.5V (to extend the life), means that we need a resistor to provide a voltage drop of 0.5V.The value of the resistor is R= V / I or 0.5V / 20mA or 0.5 / 0.1 =  5 OhmsYou might want to do an experiment with a simple one led circuit, one with 3Vdc and another with 2.5Vdc (resistor included) to see what you prefer and see how long would it take to "burn out" (but I would not wait for the later :) )
I am certain there are others here that will correct me if this is incorrect, but hope this helps :)
Have a nice day!!!

Here is a good article which will hopefully answer your question and show you how to calculate the resistor values you need.

I want to connect 9 LEDs in parallel.
Each LED is rated at 3 volts and 100mw.
If I use a 3v switching power supply, is it still best to use resistors?
This wizard suggests to use at least 1 ohm resistors.

Make that 900mW, not 90mW. I didn't catch my typo last night.
