Jud, Same here... Deer don't freeze or run off like they do when they see a car or pickup. When in the presence of one of my motorcycles they tend to step out in the road and try to figure what that strange object is that's hurling toward them. It's unnerving and potentially very dangerous. Don't know why but that seems to be common here. $bob$ I don't ride much at night because I live in deer country. During the day I was running pretty fast in an undisclosed southwest location in CO and a monster free range cow came right out of the woods and into my lane. I yelled, "Pay attention you jerky!!" So it's not just at night nor in places you'd expect. Free range cattle during the day can be a serious hazard as I've experienced first hand. Headlight didn't matter a bit... But I agree with you guys, riding at night adds a whole new level of risk. Best to avoid it and even I've cut-down on night (desert) riding. Mostly I did it to make time/distance in otherwise cooler temps, but realize it's not worth the added risk. Baja is another story. The highways are dangerous (moreso at night), so I don't mind running lots of light off-road down there.

that it turns with the forks... if you're doing really technical low speed riding and turning lock-to-lock at midnight, I guess that would be a plus.
