using footpeg to mount bike?

Post by matteeanne@yahoo.com » Wed Aug 03, 2005 12:05 pm

I run up from behind, slap my hands on the trunk and vault over onto the seat. I then dig my spurs into the rear tire and she whinnies. Oh wait, thats my horse, never mind... ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs

You can also park it next to your garage and jump off the roof, and unlike a horse, it won't move away!. thanks, Charles Date: Wed, 3 Aug 2005 10:05:05 -0700 (PDT) From: I run up from behind, slap my hands on the trunk and vault over onto the seat. Lesley, Just get someone whom you trust to stand on the left side (in case it goes left which ALL your senses say it WILL - BUT I GUARANTY IT WON'T!!!), hold the front brake (right hand) and put your right foot onto the right footpeg and brake, then swing up at the same time as your left hand grabs the left grip. The bike 'moves' a bit from it's leftward cant, but doesn't stand up straight. After you try it a couple of times with the 'helper' there, you'll have no trouble, and a GREAT way to mount! I'm 5' 10", 32" inseam, KLR lowered about 1 1/4" and it's WAY easier then hopping around trying to get my right leg over the seat from the left side! Credit goes to Joe Grove for showing me how. Ed

John, I found that IF the bike is lowered too much for the centerstand that it's a BEAR to get up. With 2" lowering links and a lowered stand I couldn't get it up! Made 1 1/2 and 1 1/4" links and it goes up OK with the 1 1/4" drop AND the forks up 1 1/2" above the triple clamp. Ed

Art, It works because you don't have to force your right foot up and over from the left. I'm 62, so maybe it's different with you young farts...! Ed

I am still confused too. Why use the right foot peg to mount. It makes no sense to me either Art. Rick A17 fasteddiecopeman wrote:

Of course not; you just have to force your left foot up and over from the right. WTF????
