Under the circumstances, I think it's fair for Kerry to call attention to the difference. Frankly, I don't understand why so many vets seem to want to fawn over Bush. Kerry not only served honorably, he was right to speak out against the war when he did. Clearly a quote only if you are family with hat was a really bad film, or if you were familiar with the really great short story that Coppola plagiarized, The Heart of Darkness. Since Will is familiar with nether how was he supposed to recognize the quote? Get real. BTW Will, I here what you are saying. One grandfather survived the Bellua Woods in WWI while the other was submariner, an uncle took a glider into Normandy and Nimegjen, another was a combat surgeon in the Pacific and a cousin did LURP in Nam. I agree, heroes don't brag. While I was never given the opportunity to travel overseas, I was #137 in a year they only drafted to #122, I can still remember that Kerry's war record was suspect back then. If he is a hero, he was lucky to be tagged so for doing nothing more than any vet who saw combat did so there is nothing worth mentioning cause he didn't do anything that extraordinary to take notice of. Back when I was on fire crew we had several vets, one had humped point most his year in Nam, one was a member of the Frozen Chosin and the last was a rear echelon hospital orderly from Nam and I bet you know which one talked like the fierce vet. The nice thing about this list and many recent NKLR posts has been that we know the other guy rides a KLR and we could all have fun together at bike ride. I have often wondered why some posts have NKLR and was required when the posts were very clearly motorcycle related and therefore was good info for a KLR. Would NMC - No Motorcycle Content be a solution ? What is wrong with a bunch of klr riders talking all thier bs around a campfire (the list). We know as KLR riders we get no respect on the road from cagers and even many other bikers. What wrong with the bonding we have done ? And hey, Ive had a klr since 86 and the 650 since 87 so don't tell me I don't love my bike. I love it so damn much it has been my primary transportation since I wsa 18yrs old and left my fathers roof 9I'M 36) in high school over a bike. Almost had to take a bullet from a hardly rider cuz of my belief that I was a REAL biker or fight a big ass bro. cuz of my "faggety ass slow bike" who owned three 1000+cc sport bikes but always drove the Ford Explorer to the bike shop. At least I know wheter your left or right of the political or religious spectrum I can count on you to understand my right and desire to explore and obtain some of the spirit of exploration or dream of flying every night.
