klr seat

Post by Larry » Tue Sep 07, 2010 11:37 pm

Does anyone have a flat corbin seat and/or a tall windshield for sale that will fit a 2006 KLR650? I am also looking for a larger flat luggage rack. Any ideas where to look? Also, does anyone know how a Sargent seat compares to a Corbin seat? They look VERY similar.. Thanks, Larry 2006 KLR650 2005 Road King

I made my larger rack (20" x 14") from a piece of 1/8" aluminum that attaches thru the same bolt holes as the little stock one, but with longer bolts w/ nuts. The metal shop sold me the piece and 'broke' it to my sizes for about $30. IF you carry any weight on it over rough roads you'll have to upgrade the two 6mm bolts to 8mm that hold it to the sub-frame, 'cause they WILL break!!! Mine has 5/16" holes for bungee cords, so it's REALLY useful, and it's sized to match an aluminum lens case I had. I carry tools, tubes, 12v compressor, hat, water, etc in it. I took a BMW windshield ($5 at a swap meet) and attached it to my crossbar where it works GREAT. Cheers, Ed

Dunno if my seat is stock but it seems firmer than most, so a previous owner may have redone the foam. It gets just a little uncomfortable after 75 miles, but remains only slightly uncomfortable for the next ten hours. I've done an eleven hour day covering 675 miles and wasn't really saddle sore, just tired enough to realize that it was time to stop. Long way of saying try some firmer foam. -- ian http://www.scarletfuries.com http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Scarlet-Furies/121218125931 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I checked the cables, checked the washer in the front wheel etc. could not get the bike to show rpms, speed or distance. Does anyone have any experience with an electric speedo? One that goes in the same spot and looks good? I wouldn't want to install in on the handlebar. Thanks again. David Z mobile: 646.267.1109 poisonpartyband.com
