Also back before mass marketing chopped us into a million niches. I had a 69 Bonneville I rode on similar roads as my KLR. Just did it at a slower speed. Larry.> > That's back when MEN were MEN...! > Ed > who used to ride his '62 Bonneville on gnarlier trails than now on his KLR....

Poser, poser, poser. I wouldn't want to be caught on a dirty, muddy road on one.......but I have always sorta liked Guzzis. Maybe they should all have some flames and plastic chrome to really increase sales. Sorry, I just kind of get tired of these dirt bike looking monsters. Just an opinion.

The V4 Honda seems to epitomize the Escalade-as-offroad-tool concept. I wonder what it weighs with that lump in it. --- In DSN_KLR650%40yahoogroups.com, "Fred Hink" wrote: > > Check out the latest adventure bikes from Honda, Moto Guzzi and Triumph: > > http://world.honda.com/news/2010/2101102V4-Crosstourer/ > > http://www.motoguzzi-us.com/en_US/prodotti/touring/stelvio/stelvio_1200_4v/default.aspx > > http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/13594_13598.aspx > > Fred > www.arrowheadmotorsports.com >On Nov 8, 2010, at 6:11 PM, "Jud" wrote:

Attachments :Side opening bags is probably not an issue. I’ve been running side-opening Pelican cases for years. Typically I am using some type of liner bag to hold the contents (e.g. a backpack if I am headed to work, or reusable grocery bags if I am shopping) etc. When you are camping you don’t want to bring a bug-encrusted side cases anywhere near the picnic table or tent, since nothing attracts bugs like splattered bugs. If you are moteling you want something to take your gear inside the motel. So a liner bag of some sort is the way to go whether the cases open on the side or the top. Using liner bags I have never had a problem with spilling contents, even when Customs & Border Protection or the Mexican Military is pawing through the bags. A collateral benefit to liner bags is that packing for a trip takes just a couple of minutes. One of my liners holds all of my camping gear (except for tent, pad and sleeping bag). The other liner bag holds my “traveling clothes”, mostly synthetics purchased at REI. So I can load the two side cases in 45 seconds, another minute or two to strap the dry bag containing the tent, pad and sleeping bag and I’m nearly ready to go. The incidentals have to be rounded up and stowed in the rack trunk or tank panniers (computer, toiletries, walking shoes etc.). Other than that, I love it.
