I put on a pair that I got from Fred over this past winter when I changed the fork oil. I prefer the forks off the bike method, so it was a piece of cake to swap boots. The Daystar ones are very heavy rubber, and install nicely. I reused the stock "hose clamps" at the top, and did the boots-into-the-SuperBrace thing I posted on my website. They are NOT the split type, the forks have to come off. It's a good time to check a bunch of things, though: brake pads, caliper action, wheel hub bearings, speedo gear and probably do a fork oil change... Mark Wise men still seek Him... The Daystar model 58 fits well, but the forks need to come off the bike to install them.

The Daystars from Fred are black as opposed to the OEM gray and are a much more durable rubber. I predict they won't ever crack like the OEM item. Pretty easy to install by removing the forks from the triple trees and won't allow debris in like a split design might. My fork boots on my A14 finally gave out at 24K miles. Who's a source for a good replacement?

I use Daystar 58 replacement fork boots per the FAQ. Run $15-$16 a set online and you can get them many places including denniskirk.com, Fred, etc. Randy --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "rsanders30117" wrote:

Baron Von Bonsall and I are putting together a Baja trip the weekend of the 15th. Anyone interested, lets make a list and bang out some details. We were thinking of leaving Friday, maybe early afternoon to get to San Felipe (5 hours), via Mikes Sky Ranch. Get a hotel in San Felipe, eat, drink, sleep, drink. Head south Sat. morning....any input/ advice appreciated. Thanks. Erik in San Diego KLR, the green one _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
