The no ads deal was a couple of years ago, where you could pay eGroups a fee for them to keep the ads off. There was some interest then and so Kurt paid to not have the ads. Then there was never another bill for this feature. So hush is the word. I don't believe this service is available any longer since I also have several mailing lists on Yahoo! and I haven't found where you can have the ads taken off either.
