oil change

Leave on side stand for a while ( noted the small weep/drain hole in the cavity ? ) and keep rags / papertowels handy :-) Try to rotate the controls forward a little bit, it seemed to help me, even though I was just attempting to make it easier to operate clutch / front brake when standing on pegs. I also have the bars rotated forward. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Rottella T 5-40 synthetic (diesel truck oil) Ya it sounds strange, But when I visited John Biccum, The timing was right He was inspecting his clutch and I seen his clutch pads (70,000 miles?+-) and also Rode his bike at high and low speeds, climbing mountains....I was SOLD been using it in all my bikes as he does every since. Get the Gallon jug at Walmart or when on sale at an auto parts store. $18-19. CHEEPER then $8-10 a quart AND BETTER.

Any good synthetic oil is going to have a 30 to 50 degree lower pour point and a 100+ degree higher "sludge" point than Rotella or any other "Dinosaur" oil. There is a ton of real testing data out there. Google is your friend.

I have been using Shell Rotella Dino 15W 40W for years at the recommendation of a friend who teaches small engine repair and maintenance. Cheep and sold at every Walmart. 55,000 miles on the clock and cruise at 5200 rpm for hours on end and never add oil between changes (3000 miles). Criswell Sent from my iPad

NO SYNTHETIC OIL for the first 3-4k. You want the carbon to help things break in correctly. After that you can pee in it and it will still work. Just dont pee in it until 3 or 4 k. On the suggestion of anther list member whos posts have proven worth reading I run Rotella T6 from Wallmart. It is very inexpensive and yet seems to take the high temp pounding I put on the KLR durring the summer months fairly well
